The following is a detailed outline of Rocky Mountain Conservatory Theatre's new Film Camp program, for our Denver, CO, and Boca Raton, FL locations. Please refer to the specific venue pages on our website for location-specific details and dates.
At Rocky Mountain Conservatory Theatre, we have a long tradition of preparing young artists for a life in art, and modern technology has made the success of applying the skills that they have learned at RMCT to the professional entertainment world. This summer, we begin our second season of Film Camp to help continue their success, under the guidance of accomplished Actor and Director Humberto Adrian Perez, a cutting edge Professor of youth in media, cultivating their potential to create in the art of filmmaking. Mr. Perez and RMCT Artistic Director Anthony Hubert have been colleagues for 20 years, working with the most acclaimed Acting and Directing Instructors in the field, and it is with great delight that we bring this award-winning film artist back to Colorado and Florida for our first narrative film camp this season!
Campers will learn how to plan, write, act, and cast a short narrative film in three fun-filled weeks. The day is divided into several class blocks with rotating activities including: digital storytelling, camera shots and angles, the rule of thirds, good vs. bad audio quality, sound design, production design, and rehearsal for the film actors. Group warm-ups and closings with the entire camp will take place at the beginning and end of each day. Additionally, cinematography, camera composition, camera shots, camera angles, camera movement, and a variety of film concepts will be taught to prepare the camper for the completion of their summer short. At the end of three weeks, campers will invite their family and friends to the RED CARPET screening of their artistic film creations and audiences will be amazed by the quality of the movies produced.
If you would like to view some of the short films that Humberto and his students have produced and also interviews and behind the scenes conversations with many of his students talking about what it's like to be in his classes and working on media and independent filmmaking, check out the collections his Vimeo channel collection of videos HERE and HERE.
*Students in this camp should own or rent an iPad or iOS device to bring to camp daily and work on. Please contact us if this is an impediment to you. We have found solutions for students without one, and have worked with a company that does iPad rentals for $85 (including shipping) for one month.
