PRIVATE VOCAL / VOICE LESSONS & SKYPE VOCAL LESSONS
At Rocky Mountain Conservatory Theatre, we are pleased to announce that Heather Nesbitt will be offering private vocal performance coaching beginning this Fall 2018! Heather has been with RMCT as a Drector and Instsructor since 2016, but her career as a performing artist, student, professional, and teacher spans over 30 years. A graduate of Yale University (BA) and New York University (MA). Heather is a scholar of every kind of storytelling, which is the cornerstone of our curriculum at RMCT. She has played a wide variety of roles, including Johanna in Sweeney Todd, the Witch in Into the Woods, and Golde in Fiddler on the Roof. After years spent studying and performing instrumental music (including Suzuki Method), singing, dancing, acting, and interning at Guthrie Theatre, Penumbra Theatre and Children’s Theatre Company, Heather was inducted into the Yale Dramat, whose members include Meryl Streep, David Hyde Pierce, Bellamy Young, and Angela Bassett. Her friend and colleague, Bobby Lopez, went on to create such successful shows as Avenue Q and Frozen. Heather worked as an on-camera broadcast/voice talent agent in Minneapolis, where one of her first clients was actress Amy Adams.
Rocky Mountain Conservatory Theatre is now offering private voice lessons with Heather Nesbitt, for students who want to take their singing to the next level,. Lessons currently have limited availablity in South Florida, so please contact us to schedule ASAP. Lessons in the Denver or Naperville areas are well done by Skype sessions. TUITION COST FOR PRIVATE LESSONS
Cost is $75 per hour for students currently enrolled in classes and booking a 4-class package, and cost is normally $150 per hour for those not enrolled in class, with single lessons available. In our experience, a 4-class package will have a singer well prepared for any upcoming event for which they want to best prepare themselves, or have professional insight to help with fine-tuning their work.
DSA or BAK or Dreyfoos, School-Specific Audition PRIVATE LESSONS
Rocky Mountain Conservatory Theatre is innundated each fall with requests, especially in our largest and original location, for students who want to work on their audition process for school acceptance in to Denver School of the Arts (DSA), and lessons are booking very fast. The same goes for South Florida, where audition season us upon us for both BAK Middle School of the Arts, and A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, both in West Palm Beach. Auditions for both the CO and FL schools begin the second week in January, 2016. If you are interested in booking for acting or voice lessons, please contact us as soon as you start condisering it in order to make sure that we can get your student into our schedule. This is a great way for students to fine-tune their audition pieces an attain a great level of confidence for their important auditions, as well as knowing what to expect and other tips from our staff members who are very experienced with helping students prepare for big academic auditions (middle school, high school, college/university) and profesional auditions, as well as a host other important performance events including debate organizations, public speaking, corporate events, etc.
SKYPE PERFORMANCE LESSONS

As a teacher, Heather headed a school Drama department, started improv comedy groups, and taught acting, Shakespeare, and public speaking at private New England and Mid-Atlantic boarding and day schools. She brought a student group from Greenwich Academy (including Alison Williams) to the Edinburgh Fringe festival in Scotland, to perform Anna Deavere Smith’s Twilight: Los Angeles. While teaching at Nova Southeastern University School, Heather took a student group to the Junior Thespians state competition in Orlando.
Heather performed as a member of Yale’s a cappella singing and improvisational comedy troupe, Mixed Company, and senior women’s singing group (the female equivalent of the renowned Whiffenpoofs), Whim ’n’ Rhythm, whose album she executive produced. Her vocal experience includes musical theatre, classical opera, and choral singing. She has worked as director and vocal coach on dozens of musicals, including Grease, Bat Boy, and Legally Blonde, and is well-versed in breath control and expanding her students’ vocal range without unnecessary damage to their voices.
Heather will prepare your child with a vocal audition they can confidently perform anytime, anywhere. She is passionate about and committed to teaching her students what she knows best: how to sing beautifully, safely, and confidently with a strong acting foundation.
